Effectiveness of Thinopyrum ponticum-derived wheat leaf rust resistance gene, Lr24 in India - a revisit

چکیده

Leaf or brown rust is one of the most devastating diseases in wheat. Development and deployment resistance wheat cultivars considered as effective, economic sustainable method protecting against yield losses due to leaf rust. Though several alien genes have been reported utilized, Thinopyron ponticum derived gene Lr24/Sr24 has proved be effective for nearly three decades India. The effectiveness this was validated recently at seedling adult plant stage. In sixteen (16) backcrossed inbred lines (BILs) along with their corresponding recurrent parents showed reaction existing pathotypes. Furthermore presence Lr24 confirmed BILs through molecular markers. results that conferred all stage pathotypes P. triticina f.sp. tritici. This emphasizes importance Indian breeding program its prolonged protection crop from

Development of wheat genotypes possessing a combination of leaf rust resistance genes Lr19 and Lr24

Endopeptidase allele Ep-D1c and DNA marker-assisted selection have been used for the incorporation of Lr19 + Lr24 leaf rust resistance genes combination into adapted commercial winter wheat cultivars. The first step was the transfer of the gene Lr19 from the donor cultivar Agrus into acceptor cultivars Simona and Lívia. The progenies possessing the null allele Ep-D1c linked to the gene Lr19 hav...

Molecular Markers for Leaf Rust Resistance Gene Lr42 in Wheat

Wheat leaf rust, caused by Puccinia triticina Eriks., is an important wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) foliar disease worldwide. Growing cultivars incorporating genetic resistance is one of the most effective approaches for disease control. Leaf rust resistance gene Lr42 was identified from a wheat relative, Aegilops tauschii Coss. (goatgrass), and has been transferred into hard winter wheat. A pre...

Molecular Mapping of Wheat Leaf Rust Resistance Gene Lr42

Leaf rust, caused by Puccinia triticina Eriks., is an important foliar disease of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) worldwide. Leaf rust resistance gene Lr42 from Aegilops tauschii Coss. has been used as a source of rust resistance in breeding programs. To identify molecular markers closely linked to Lr42, a segregating population of nearisogenic lines contrasting for the presence of Lr42 was develo...

Chromosomal Location and Comparative Genomics Analysis of Powdery Mildew Resistance Gene Pm51 in a Putative Wheat-Thinopyrum ponticum Introgression Line

Powdery mildew (PM) is a very destructive disease of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). Wheat-Thinopyrum ponticum introgression line CH7086 was shown to possess powdery mildew resistance possibly originating from Th. ponticum. Genomic in situ hybridization and molecular characterization of the alien introgression failed to identify alien chromatin. To study the genetics of resistance, CH7086 was cro...
